I lived in fascinating times! In the years that followed the death of Alexander the Great, I experienced the formation of our city, Thessaloniki. King Cassander, realising the strategic advantages of the location, proceeded with the foundation of the city. He brought together the population of nearby pre-existing small settlements in a single joint city. He named it after his wife, sister of Alexander the Great.
Even though I was born in a small town in the region of Macedonia, I can say that I lived, died and was buried in the city of Thessaloniki, along with my opulent grave goods.
