I was born in Tenea. My ancestors were originally from Tenedos, from the generation of Tennes, son of Cycnus. They were Trojan prisoners appointed by Agamemnon to guard the passage from Corinth to the Mycenae. Here, king Polybus raised the famous Oedipus.
My hometown participated in the colonisation of Syracuse, which thrived, and we proudly repeated the words of a visitor: “Blest is Corinth, but Tenea for me”*.
I lived my life enjoying the goods of agriculture, animal breeding and commerce with the East and the West. I had great love for the good wine of Tenea, which is why my relatives chose a kylix to accompany me in my burial, next to the loved ones of my family.
